- Location: Bowen Mountain, NSW
- Our Client: Barbara Tarnawski Architects
- Project Challenge: Design a buildable solution to match the architectural intent
Sangoma Retreat is a boutique get-away in a secluded bush setting and our brief from the architect was to design a buildable solution that met the architectural intent incorporating large open spaces, exposed steel members, polished concrete and Australian hardwood. The buildings were designed around the natural environment and the structural elements had to be sympathetic to, and complement, the natural setting. The exposed steel, polished concrete and hardwood were well balanced, and the end result was a smart, soft industrial feel that complimented the natural Australian bush backdrop.
